A phenology wheel is simply a circular calendar. It is used to record observations and discoveries over time.
These observations can be as broad or as detailed as your students wish. If your child is interested in butterflies, they can observe butterflies as a group or a specific species.
Your child can use just one wheel or use several different wheels to study nature.
Using a phenology wheel is a great way to explore the world and learn important observation skills.
This wheel is divided into month sections. The months are grouped into segments by season.
To use this wheel, print out as many copies as you need. Have your child color the outer edges.
You may wish to use cardstock so that your child can use a variety of writing and drawing instruments. Cardstock will also hold up better throughout the months of use.
Leave the page intact, or cut out the page elements and paste them into your science notebook.
