You will be surprised to know what your kids will tell you they know about the Underground Railroad. Is it a railroad? Is it underground? Who were its conductors?
Well, truth be told it was underground was it a railroad. That makes learning about it extra interesting to our kids. When they find out what it really was, they will be even more intrigued and impacted.
Many of the points or stations on the “Underground Railroad” were so secret that no one really knows where they were.
People tried to make it to Canada to escape slavery and were helped by strangers along the way.
It was said that there were anywhere from 40 to 100 thousand people who were able to flee from slavery via the help of strangers by way of the “underground railroad.”
Our history in America just wouldn’t be the same without this piece of puzzle which eventually led to the Civil War from the North and South.
