And be sure to check out your local area for a nearby butterfly garden. We have a local greenhouse that has a butterfly garden once a year when the weather is warm, so they’re not just found in zoos or museums!

So much information! I don’t know where to start. I have a 7, 3 and 3 month old. The 7 yr old loves to draw!

  2. says

Wow, what a list! I can’t wait to peruse through all of the links! We pulled out the caterpillar field guides yesterday, to identify the caterpillars we found in our flower garden, and will be anxiously awaiting the butterfly stage.

This is just a fabulous resource. Many people claim to create unit studies but they are rarely this thorough. Please consider sharing this with the readers at HammockTracks by linking to our month long resource link up – Look What We Did. As a matter of fact, many of your posts would be appropriate to share there and you can add them whenever you like. There is not a special day of the week when this link-up goes live. It is always available and it is my go to resource when I am creating a unit study of my own. I pinned this on my science fun board. -Savannah

    Hi Jamerrill,

for the past two years, I have been offering a free email course to those interested in raising and releasing monarchs for their great fall migration. This would be a great project for homeschoolers and integrates gardening, raising, and education (the monarch migration is fascinating for kids of all ages!) Thanks for putting together this fantastic list! My name is linked to the course sign up and here is a post on the monarch migration in case you are interested in learning more:
