Preschoolers learning to write need to first practice basic lines and curves. Use these cute trace and color prewriting worksheets for your beginner to practice.

Prewriting skills are basic skills that a child develops as they learn to hold a pencil. Through practice, they develop hand strength and fine motor skills necessary to handwrite.
As beginners, most kids hold a pencil awkwardly and don’t know where to place it.
They may have developed some coordination through coloring with crayons. Writing requires higher levels of fine motor skills and precise marking.
This set of colorful worksheets will guide your child through several prewriting exercises.
Pages 1-3 are for tracing practice. Your child will follow the lines from the worms to the apples.
These first pages are great for laminating and reusing for extra practice.
The first page is for tracing straight lines and vertical zig-zags.
The second page has curves and waves to trace.
Page three has all different shapes and zigzags.
Pages 4-6 have apples to color with different tracing patterns inside them. There are also words to trace and color.
