Winter is upon us and many are enjoying the beauty of snow where they live. Create your own dazzling snow scene with a snowstorm jar science activity.
If you have ever experienced a snowstorm, you know how beautiful it can be.
Create your own snowstorm in a jar with this fun activity. It covers both art and science so you’ll want to add it to your list of projects.
To get started, you’ll need water, baby oil, seltzer tablets, white paint, sequins, glitter, and a clear jar.
Fill your jar 1/4 of the way with water. Add a small amount of white paint, so that it looks like milk when mixed.
Add in your glitter and sequins before adding any of the other ingredients. This makes your snow effect magical!
Fill your jar the rest of the way with baby oil, leaving about an inch at the top for fizzing. Allow the water and oil to separate.
To get the “storm” started, break apart a seltzer tablet and drop the pieces into the jar. When the fizzing settles, the glitter and paint will dance, creating a “storm” effect!
