We’ve all heard people say not to tell our kids math is hard, or not fun.
Well, sometimes it is very hard, and not very fun, but it’s how we respond that matters!
What is my favorite way to deal with hard math concepts? Turn them into a game!
Practice identifying odd and even numbers with this fun summer-themed number game.
Print your child’s favorite game board, grab two dice, and a few manipulatives. Pompoms, checkers, legos, or other tiny figures make perfect game pieces.
Your child will roll the dice, then add the two numbers shown on the dice together.
Once they have their answer they will determine if it is an odd or even number. Next, they’ll move to the nearest “odd” or “even” space on the board.
The first person to reach the “even” space at the end is the winner!
For an alternative way to play, use multiplication facts in place of addition.
