Must-See Family Christmas Movies

One of our most beloved holiday pastimes in recent decades is snuggling up together to watch Christmas movies. Gather your family this season and check off the must-see family Christmas movies on this list.

NOTE: There are a couple of movies I definitely will NOT show my kids. Please use discretion. I just wanted to share this list as many times years go by and I miss some Christmas movies that I wanted to see. So this is just a reminder for you to see those Christmas favorites.

The first Christmas movie, a black and white short film, was titled “Santa Claus” and filmed in the United Kingdom in 1898. In the last 100+ years, films have evolved to continually fascinate and amaze audiences around the world.

Christmas movies can be found in every genre, but the best-loved ones make us laugh or tug at our heartstrings. Life can be difficult, making it hard to get into the spirit, but holiday movies can help with that!

This list of movies covers many genres and tastes, from kids movies to movies with more grown-up themes and dialog. Most of these movies are child-friendly, but it is wise to check ratings before watching with them.

Get into your jammies, make hot cocoa, and cuddle up with your little ones for an evening of Christmas cheer. This year has been a tough one, so make your season bright and plan to check off all the movies on this list.
