Many times we don’t start teaching our kids about geography until they are into their primary school ages.
Even then, we don’t give them as much geography as they should get – in my opinion, anyway.
Living overseas several time sin my life, I have been told that United States Americans were the worst at knowing about geography.
It si kind of true. I don’t remember too much about what I learned about the worl din public school growing up.
I mean I learned about the continents and the various wars with them, but can’t remember much else. I feel it was a grave disservice to me, especially when I started working in the Australian Embassy.
This is why I have taken geography pretty serious in my homeschool.
I try to bring into other subjects as much as ai can and I try to get my kids excited about learning about the world and it’s characteristics.
