Listening for sounds in words is a great way to train the ear for reading and spelling. Once they have a solid grasp of beginning and ending sounds, we want to stretch their ear a little more to start listening for those middle vowel sounds. Short vowels are a great place to start! Check out these FREE Short Vowel Clip Cards from This Reading Mama!
Included in this pack are 24 short vowel clip cards, which will help your child practice listening for those short middle vowel sounds. Just say the name of the large object at the top of each clip card, then identify each smaller object, emphasizing the middle short vowel sound. The child clips the image that matches the short vowel sound. {A picture key with answers is located on the first page of the download.}
