Keeping track of school days and hours doesn’t have to mean a binder full of paper forms. NumeraSheets offers a free Homeschool Attendance & Hours Log—a spreadsheet that opens in Excel or Google Sheets. There is no sign-up to download it. You set your own day and hour targets, log subjects as you go, and the file tallies school days and hours for up to two children.
(This is a free lite / smaller version of NumeraSheets’ paid Homeschool Planner & Records. The free log counts days and hours; the paid workbook adds more planning and records tools. Details are on their site—no affiliate link.)

Grab the freebie from that page. The download is an .xlsx file (about 27 KB) that also opens in Google Sheets via File → Import → Upload. Please share the landing page link with friends rather than redistributing the file itself.
What’s included
The spreadsheet has four tabs (Start here, Settings, Log, and Summary) and no macros:
- Start here — a short orientation so you know where to begin
- Settings — school-year start date, children’s names, and your own targets for school days and hours (targets start empty)
- Log — one row per subject, per child, per day (date, child, subject, hours). A day with four subjects still counts as one school day; hours add up per child
- Summary — for each child: school days logged, hours, percentage of each target reached, school days still to go, and the last day logged
Capacity: up to two children on the free log.
Important: The file does not build in any state’s requirements. Every target is a number you type, and the target cells start empty. Requirements vary by place and change—check what applies where you live, then enter the numbers that fit your family.
Who it’s for
If attendance paperwork makes you groan, this free spreadsheet is a frugal digital option for families who already live in Excel or Google Sheets. It fits households tracking school days and hours for up to two kids—no account required, and you set your own targets instead of using a form that assumes one state’s rules.
