This set of reading lists for Kindergarten through 3rd grade and printable reading log were so graciously shared by Kirsten Joy Torrado. Kirsten is an author, speaker, and home educator.
Thank you, Kirsten, for sharing these resources!
When children are in the early years of reading, it can be challenging to find just the right books for them to read. There are many questions that moms have, even those of us who are more seasoned homeschoolers.
Should I choose fiction or non-fiction?
How do I find books that aren’t just twaddle?
Should we only read books about topics she’s interested in?
How do I know what level to start with?
Wouldn’t it be wonderful if you had book reading lists organized by grade level to help guide you in choosing books for your child?
Yay! Now you do!
This download of reading lists are organized into book lists for Kindergarten, First Grade, Second Grade, and Third Grade.
All you have to do is download and print the list, grab the kiddos, and head to the library!
You’ll find the books in these lists categorized by fiction/non-fiction, chapter books, series, and reading level.
BONUS: Also available for download is a reading log where you and your child can keep a record of the wonderful books you’re deciphering.
Just print the list and keep it in a memorable spot – near the library basket, on a clipboard by the bookshelf, or in your homeschool planning binder.
Once your child reads a book, just write it on the list!
This is a neat way to feel encouraged if and when you hit reading speed bumps. It’s also an easy way to keep a record for your yearly homeschool portfolio, if your state requires that type of documentation.
