FREE Instant Download: Christmas Spelling Activity

Making smaller words from larger words is such a great and hands-on spelling activity to do ANY time of year! It requires that kids problem solve with spelling words only using the letters they are offered. One of our favorite ways to do this is our Scoop & Spell activity, which I use often when I haven’t had a chance to prepare one for my kids.

Today, you can download this FREE 14-pg spelling activity with Christmas phrases and song titles {free download found at the end of this post}. It includes two different kinds of spelling recording sheets for each Christmas phrase/song plus letters kids can manipulate to help them discover smaller words within the larger words.

This activity would work well with Kindergarten through first grade, especially when you add the letters they can manipulate. Older kids elementary kids could be challenged to try it without the letter manipulatives. If you are using this printable in a group setting, kids could be grouped together and challenged to create words that no other groups did.
