Does your little one press their nose to the window every time a bird lands on the feeder? Turn that excitement into a quiet coloring break. Celticway Books shares two free backyard bird coloring pages from The Regulars: A Backyard Adventure, their coloring book of 48 coloring pages for ages 4–8. The book was inspired by the real birds and animals that visit the publisher’s own backyard, a little world they call Larryland.
What’s included
- “Meet the Regulars”: birds gathered at a backyard feeder, with a little turtle explorer watching from the garden. Caption: “Our bird friends are already having breakfast.”
- “Meet Larry”: a mourning dove in the garden. Caption: “He’s a Mourning Dove. Larry has many friends that join him as a Regular.”
Honest notes: this is a 2-page PDF (US Letter), and we’re hosting it here with Celticway Books’ permission. The pages have bold, thick lines that are easy for small hands to color. The artwork appears to be AI-assisted. These two pages are a sample of the full coloring book, which is sold on Amazon.
Who it’s for
Bird lovers ages 4–8 will feel right at home here. Preschoolers can color the big, simple shapes, and early readers can sound out the short captions themselves. It’s a nice fit for kids who are just starting to notice which birds keep coming back to the yard.
How to use
- Color Larry while you watch for real mourning doves at your own feeder or on a power line.
- Keep a tally of the “regulars” that visit your yard this week, and give them names like the book does.
- Add the pages to a backyard birds unit or a nature notebook.
- Tuck them into a morning basket or a quiet-time bin.
