Handing a preschooler their first pair of scissors can feel a little nerve-racking, and it’s hard to know which cutting pages are the right place to start. CurioPine shares free scissor skills worksheets for ages 3–5: a 4-page sample with a short guide and beginner cutting practice, with no sign-up needed.
What’s Included
The free sample is one 4-page US Letter PDF:
- A short guide for the grown-up
- Short straight cuts
- More beginner practice with straight lines
- Wide zigzags
Who It’s For
Little hands ages 3–5 who are just getting the hang of scissors are the perfect fit. The pages start with short straight lines, so even a brand-new cutter can feel successful, then move on to zigzags when your child is ready. Use child-safe scissors, with a grown-up staying close during cutting.
How to Use It
- One page at a time: print at 100%, one activity per sheet, and let an adult prepare the page.
- Repeat the easy ones: print the straight-line pages again for extra practice before moving to the zigzags.
- Fine motor warm-up: pair it with play dough or tearing paper strips to build hand strength.
- Keep it short: a few minutes of cutting is plenty for little hands.
