Looking for a gentle way to walk kids through a short story from start to finish? Puppy Kisses (Puppy Kisses, LLC) offers free Short Story Builders for grades 1–7—step-by-step PDF guides featuring the Puppy Pack. Each grade file walks young writers through character → setting → problem → ending so they finish with a complete short story of their own. There is no email signup; families pick a grade on the landing page and download the PDF they need.

Use that page as the main download hub. Seven grade PDFs are linked there (direct, ungated). Across those seven files there are 79 pages combined—not one single 79-page pack.
What’s included
One printable PDF per grade, grades 1 through 7. Soft story-structure practice only (character, setting, problem, ending)—no claims about meeting state requirements or Common Core certification.
- 1st grade — 9 pages · PDF
- 2nd grade — 10 pages · PDF
- 3rd grade — 11 pages · PDF
- 4th grade — 11 pages · PDF

Total: 7 free PDFs · 79 pages combined (9+10+11+11+13+12+13). Prefer the landing page as the share link so families can choose the right grade.
Same publisher also hosts a free Short Story Library on their site (optional extra reading—not required to use the builders).
Who it’s for
If your young writer freezes at “once upon a time,” these grade-matched PDFs walk elementary and early middle school kids (grades 1–7) through character, setting, problem, and ending—no account needed. They’re a gentle fit for morning basket writing time, quiet afternoon stretches, or any child who loves the Puppy Pack characters (Cora, Zach, and friends).
