Some days the math book just isn’t happening, and that’s okay. A good puzzle can get a reluctant child thinking about numbers and shapes without it feeling like another worksheet. Mathy Puzzles shares free printable math puzzles for ages 4–12, with free sets on every puzzle page and answers included. There are no ads on the site.
What’s Included
The site has over 100 puzzle types sorted into three kinds, and each puzzle page has free printable sets in US Letter or A4:
- Shape and spatial puzzles such as Count the Cubes, Tangram, Mirror Match and Fold & Punch
- Logic puzzles such as Sudoku, Odd One Out, Secret Codes and Logic Grids
- Number puzzles such as Number Bonds, Balance Puzzles, Number Pyramids and Magic Squares
- Answers included
The set we opened (Count the Cubes, Level 2) had a short learn sheet, five puzzle pages and the answers. Set sizes vary from puzzle to puzzle.
Who It’s For
Have a puzzle lover and a math avoider under the same roof? The puzzles come in four levels, so you can hand each child something that fits:
- Level 1: ages 4–6 (pre-K–K)
- Level 2: ages 6–8 (grades 1–2)
- Level 3: ages 8–10 (grades 3–4)
- Level 4: ages 10–12 (grades 5–6)
Not every puzzle type comes in every level. If you’re unsure, the publisher suggests starting one level lower and moving up.
How to Use Them
- Morning warm-up: start math time with one puzzle before the lesson.
- Fun Friday: swap a regular math lesson for a puzzle sheet once a week.
- Mixed ages: print the same puzzle type at two levels so siblings can work side by side.
- Sit together: for younger kids, work the first puzzle with them and let them try the rest.
