American Artist John Singer Sargent was considered to be the greatest portrait artist of his time, and was apparently an Edwardian-era unschooler as well! His family traveled throughout Europe during his growing-up years, and although John didn’t care for formal academics, his mother believed that their lifestyle of travel and museums would provide a rich education for her children.
