On September 17th , 1787, the Constitutional Convention met to sign the United States Constitution. September 17th is now known as Constitution and Citizenship Day in order to celebrate the ratification of the U.S. Constitution and those who have become U.S. citizens.
In the U.S., public schools are required to teach about the history of the U.S. Constitution on this day. Homeschooling, of course, gives us freedom to teach about the Constitution when it fits our schedule best. That being said, I think it is critical to teach our children about the Constitution and our rights as U.S. citizens.
Our family always thinks it’s fun to take a full day learning and focusing on one topic. Constitution Day is the perfect time take a break from our routine and do a unit study on the U.S. Constitution I’m sharing this list in case your planning to celebrate in your homeschool as well.
