You might be considering adding unit studies to bring classic literature lessons to life in your homeschool.
The goal of the unit study approach is to select a topic of interest and then use various subjects to learn even more about the topic and connect your learning.
If you use a classic literature title such as Treasure Island as your unit study theme or “topic of interest” you could learn all about pirates, ships, travel, etc. through crafts, cooking, vocabulary games, research projects, mapping activities, math problems, and more.
Here is another benefit of unit studies – because they can include a variety of learning methods and subjects they can be very effective for homeschool families with children of different ages and learning styles. With this approach kids of different ages can easily learn together!
To help you learn more about bringing classic literature to life with unit studies, Education Possible is offering a FREE Printable for Treasure Island: “Help Your Children Learn Pirate Lingo”!
