Got a LEGO fan in your house? Challenge them with this free printable 30-Day LEGO Challenge calendar — a different creative building prompt for every day that will keep their imagination running for a full month.
Also available: the 31-Day LEGO Challenge Printable Calendar with all new prompts!
How the 30-Day LEGO Challenge Works
Each day on the calendar presents a specific building scenario. These aren’t just “build a house” prompts — they’re creative, story-driven challenges that get kids thinking. For example:
- Day 2: NASA needs you to build a new rocket.
- Day 24: The local bank keeps getting robbed. Build a safe no one can crack!
The prompts spark imagination by putting kids into a role — engineer, architect, inventor, problem-solver — and letting them create their own solution entirely from LEGO bricks.
Ways to Use This in Your Homeschool
Daily creative time: Pick a consistent time each day — after breakfast, during afternoon free time, or as a reward after completing schoolwork. Making it routine helps kids look forward to it.
LEGO races: If you have multiple kids, turn the daily prompt into a friendly competition. Who can complete the challenge quickest? Using the most bricks? The fewest? Only one color?
Photo journal: Help your child photograph each day’s creation. At the end of the month, create a collage, slideshow, or scrapbook page documenting all 30 builds. It’s a great way to see how their skills and creativity developed over the month.
Writing extension: After each daily build, have your child write a few sentences or a paragraph describing their creation — what it is, how it works, and why they designed it that way. This sneaks in writing practice while they think they’re just talking about LEGO.
Family challenge: Do the daily prompt as a whole family activity after dinner. Everyone builds their own version and then presents it to the group. Dad included.
Why LEGO is Great for Homeschool
LEGO isn’t just play — it builds spatial reasoning, fine motor skills, engineering thinking, and creative problem-solving. When kids follow a daily prompt, they’re also practicing following directions, working within constraints, and persevering when their first design doesn’t work out. All valuable skills that transfer to academics and life.

Love your calendar, thanks my daughter is having a blast with it!
I’m a classroom teacher and was wondering if I could share this with the kids in my classroom. It would be shared as a resource through a platform called Schoology. It isn’t a public forum, just one where kids from my class can access information. Thank you!
Hi Cassi!
Feel free to share it privately within your group. Thanks!
